The recent performances of Corinthians in the Brasileirão, Copa do Brasil, and the Campeonato Paulista have given supporters much to worry about.
Last season, Corinthians finished just two points above the relegation zone despite having won the Brasileirão in 2017.
This season, the club are currently in third place in their four-team group in the Campeonato Paulista against lower-tiered clubs and barely advanced in this year’s Copa do Brasil first-round clash against third-division Ferroviário.
On Wednesday, midfielder Jadson talked about the uncomfortable situation and admitted that the group has felt the bad run of form.
“This has bothered the whole group, the front office, and the fans.
“There has already been a lot of time. We have played eight games (in 2019) and the team has not yet impressed.
“But we’ve been working to make it better. For new players it is a matter of getting on with the rest of the team, it takes patience.
“This (the arrival of reinforcements) is good for the group and for the club.
“We have to find our winning ways by playing well as fast as we can,” Jadson said in their pre-match press conference.
On Thursday, Corinthians will have an enormous challenge: the Copa Sudamericana, where they will face Argentine giants Racing Club, who are currently on top of the Superliga table.
Jadson spoke about the difficulties that the game will impose on the team.
“I remember watching Racing, similar to what we saw against Colo-Colo last year, the goalkeeper took a long time to kick the ball.
“We spoke to the referee, it took 15 seconds, it seemed an eternity for the goalkeeper to resume play.
“We can not be angry, we have to play with the ball and forget this part of the game.”
