Jadon Sancho revealed to FourFourTwo that the poem tattooed on his arm is actually a tribute to his baby brother, who died when Sancho was just five years old.
The poem reads: “You and me will stay together, you made us happy, you brought us joy, you were a special baby boy.
“I couldn’t wait till you grew up, teach you football and win the cup.
“But you’re gone what can I do? Baby brother, we love you.”
Sancho says his late younger brother remains forever on his mind.
“All I want is to make him proud. He is my inspiration.”
Recently, Sancho’s grandmother passed away, and Sancho chose to dedicate his infamous goal against Revierderby rivals Schalke to her as well.
“That goal was for him and my nan, who passed away that week.
“I got emotional, but family is important. That’s why I do this football thing, to make them proud and happy.”
Dortmund will hope to extend their seven-point lead on top of the table on Saturday when they take on Hoffenheim.
