Jadon Sancho has reportedly not given up on his Manchester United career and would be keen on returning to the club, especially if Jason Wilcox’s appointment gets over the line.

Sancho has not played for United since early September when he kickstarted a bitter public spat with manager Erik ten Hag.

Ten Hag told the media that Sancho was not included in the club’s matchday squad that made its way to the Emirates to face Arsenal due to the forward’s poor performances in training. In response, the 24-year-old issued a strongly-worded statement on social media slamming the Dutchman and essentially accusing him of lying.

Efforts were made by senior United chiefs to reconcile Ten Hag and Sancho but the player repeatedly refused to apologise and so, a decision was made to loan him out to Borussia Dortmund in January.

Following INEOS arrival and amid suggestions that Sir Jim Ratcliffe is keen to enhance discipline and standards within the ranks, it was thought that Sancho did not have a future at Old Trafford. This claim was further reinforced by claims that United want to permanently part ways with the England international, whom Dortmund want to buy.

However, i news reports that Sancho has not closed the door to returning to United next season with Ten Hag’s future at the club looking increasingly uncertain.

“Sancho’s long-term Old Trafford career appeared to be all but over as he headed back to Borussia Dortmund on loan in January after failing to reconcile his differences with Ten Hag. i understands, however, that Sancho is not giving up on his United career just yet. Should Ten Hag go in the summer and a new manager come in, sources close to the player insist he would be open to ‘starting again’.”

“With Sancho and Ten Hag’s relationship described as “irreparable” by insiders, it is felt the United manager’s departure is the only way an Old Trafford return could be feasible.”

“Incoming technical director Jason Wilcox is understood to be more open to giving Sancho another chance.”

“The former head of Manchester City’s academy gave Sancho his youth-team debut – the 15-year-old scored twice inside five minutes – and he has spoken highly of the England international on several occasions. United continue to negotiate with Southampton to enable Wilcox to leave the south coast and make a Manchester return this summer.”

The newspaper adds that selling Sancho remains United’s primary objective despite his willingness to make a comeback.

If no proper suitor comes calling, or if Dortmund fail to meet the Red Devils’ asking price for the winger, then a second coming could be explored by INEOS.
