Jadon Sancho’s big-money move to Manchester United will be remembered as one of the most successful in the club’s history – there’s no question about that as far as I’m concerned.

The 21-year-old is the perfect hybrid between a tricky winger and a playmaker with incredible finesse. There are very few weaknesses to his game and you’ll have to search hard for any.

For whatever reason, his start to life in Manchester hasn’t been breathtaking – certainly not to the level he showed for Borussia Dortmund last season and the two before.

There are a number of explanations. Sancho needed time to acclimatise to life in Germany when he joined and it’s fair to assume a period of adaption is needed before he can set the Premier League alight – as we all expect.

Sancho has started just three games so far, making appearances from the bench in the other two games. In one of the three he started, he was hauled off after roughly half an hour because of a red card.

Against Newcastle last week, he did reasonably well considering it was his full home debut. Obviously, he’s still not up to speed with the movements of his new teammates but that will come with time.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is spoiled for choice in attacking areas and world-class players such as Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes will not struggle to play with Sancho.

After having his evening cut short against Young Boys earlier this week, he will be hoping to start this weekend’s game at West Ham. A return to the capital could be exactly what he needs to kickstart his career at the club.

Last season, an early-season dip was ended with a goal against Wolfsburg for Dortmund. From that point, he was their best player for the rest of the season.

He remains one of the hottest properties in Europe and once he gets going in a red shirt, he’ll show exactly why the club invested so much into his transfer.
