It has been a successful season for Hull City so far, but the ongoing debate over the future of Jaden Philogene will do nothing to calm their nerves between now and the end of the year.

The Tigers have been in and around the play-off places for the bulk of the season, with the club aiming to return to the Premier League for the first time since 2017.

Manager Liam Rosenior has managed to get the best out of Philogene, with his goals and assists being key to their impressive form in this current campaign.

Rosenior will be hoping to keep Philogene at the club for as long as possible, although there are a number of factors that could affect his future at the club.

The Hull Daily Mail reported that Philogene wants to remain with Hull going forward, and has ambitions of bringing them to the Premier League as early as next season.

When asked about when he could see the Tigers in the Premier League, he replied "As soon as the season finishes? We can be there next season. My mind is on Hull City right now."

This admission shows that he is not thinking about a move away from the MKM Stadium, having just joined the club from Villa in the summer.

Hull will be pleased to hear about his future ambitions at the club, and will hope to keep a hold of the forward for as long as they possibly can.

Keeping him gives them the best chance of challenging for promotion, and Rosenior could build a team around Philogene to help get them to the Premier League in the near future.

According to Capology, the English winger is among the lower paid members of the Hull squad, despite his growing importance to the team.

They report that he is only on £9,000 per week, which is far below Fabio Carvalho's estimated wage of £40,000 per week wage at the club.

Considering his contribution of eight goals and five assists already in the Championship, the winger could be pushing for a new contract in the near future, or even a move away to a club that will pay him more for his work.

The player had slowly built up his reputation with loan spells at Cardiff City and Stoke City, but is now one of the top players in the Championship, and should be paid as such.

The Tigers still have three more years left of the player at the club. His contract does not expire until 2026, with a reported optional extra year also included. This means that the club have no incentive to sell Philogene on the cheap at all.

Hull may be tempted to cash in on the tricky winger and could be tempted by a big money move in the summer, although it is unlikely to be more than Villa's buyback clause.

When the winger signed for Hull in 2022, a buy-back clause was inserted into his contract. Villa have the option to sign him back to the club for an undisclosed fee, reported to be around £15 million.

However, this is reported to only come into effect if Hull win promotion to the top division, meaning that the club could be forced to pay even more if Hull do not finish in the promotion places this season.
