Birmingham City have announced their latest summer signing in the form of Jade Pennock.

The 28-year-old will prepare to make her Women’s Super League debut during the 2021/22 season. Pennock, who plays a versatile attacking role, will be valued at Birmingham following their struggle to ensure their league survival last season.

Pennock announced her departure from Sheffield United back in May, after enjoying three seasons with the Championship side. The winger holds the record of the most goals and assists tallied for the Blades in their current era.

Pennock’s Birmingham move will see her wear the No.11 shirt when the new WSL season kicks off in September. This signing marks head coach Scott Booth’s first signing of the window. The deal will run for an initial year, with the option of one additional next season.

As well as her time with Sheffield United, Pennock previously represented Doncaster Belles, where she won the second division title in 2018.

With Birmingham’s squad numbers depleted, Pennock’s all-round attacking force will no doubt see her become a keystone player. This signing, alongside Lily Simkin signing her first professional contract with the club, will be important for the Blues’ survival fight.
