The Rapids are owned by Kroenke Sports & Entertainment, the same group that owns Arsenal, and the link would not be the first between the clubs after Gunners signed American defender Auston Trusty from the MLS franchise in January 2022.

A 34-time England international, Wilshere remains a fan favourite at Arsenal. The midfielder was the club’s youngest ever league player until last year and won two FA Cups with the Gunners before spells with West Ham, Bournemouth and AGF before his retirement at 30-years-old.
