Manchester City forward Jack Grealish has revealed his early return to training on Instagram at the club’s headquarters this week.

The England international was snubbed by manager Gareth Southgate for this summer’s UEFA European Championships in Germany following a difficult season under Pep Guardiola during the last campaign.

Having struggled to displace new signing Jeremy Doku during the opening months of the season, Grealish endured a number of successive injury problems that halted his progress in returning to full match sharpness.

However, following heart-to-heart discussions with Pep Guardiola, the Manchester City boss has shown his faith in Jack Grealish’s capabilities, insisting that he has a significant role to play in the squad during the upcoming season.

And it is that faith shown in him that has in turn seen Grealish return to Manchester City’s training base ahead of schedule in an attempt to start the new season in the best possible form and fitness.

As revealed on Jack Grealish’s official Instagram account, the Manchester City forward has returned to the north-west ahead of schedule as he looks to get his work underway before the rest of his teammates arrive at the City Football Academy in early July.

Joined by a close friend and personal football trainer, Grealish says, “There he is, the main man, the guvnor,” in reference to the latter, before continuing on his pal, “There’s the other one, the other personal trainer”.

Manchester City appear to be open to the idea of recruiting in wide positions this summer, having previously held a tenuous interest in Bayern Munich-bound Crystal Palace forward Michael Olise.

Savio is another name set for Etihad Stadium assessment this summer, with Manchester City recruiting the Brazil international winger from fellow City Football Group side ESTAC Troyes following a stellar campaign on loan at Girona.

The youngster is likely to be a part of Pep Guardiola’s pre-season tour of the United States following his completion of Copa America with his Brazil teammates, which is absent of Ederson following his injury at the end of last season.
