Jack Clarke and Nottingham Forest: What do we know so far? Is a transfer likely to happen?

Nottingham Forest’s 2020/21 season comes to an end on Saturday, but the priority for Chris Hughton is already very much about bringing players in.

The Reds have endured a difficult campaign in the Championship, and 36 goals in 45 league outings suggests where most of the work needs to be done this summer.

Hughton will be eager to bolster his side’s attacking options, but whilst a striker will be on the radar, the addition of another winger or two certainly wouldn’t go amiss.

Luke Freeman and Anthony Knockaert will return to their parent clubs this summer, and with Sammy Ameobi set to be out of contract, there aren’t too many options out wide.

The Athletic, though, have recently reported that Tottenham Hotspur winger Jack Clarke is on the Reds’ radar ahead of the summer.

What do we know so far?

It is believed that Forest are eyeing up a loan move for Clarke, who has made only three first-team appearances for Spurs since his £10million move from Leeds United in 2019.

The Reds are said to have registered an interest in taking Clarke on loan, with Chris Hughton hoping that his connections with Spurs could help their chances of sealing a deal.

Is it likely to happen?

A loan move away from Spurs is likely this summer, yes.

Clarke is by no means the finished article just yet, having failed to impress after being sent back on loan to Leeds for the 2019/20 campaign.

He failed to replicate the form he displayed at Elland Road in 2018/19, and a loan move to QPR subsequently followed in the second half of 2019/20.

This season, he has spent time on loan with Stoke City, making only 14 appearances and registering two assists for the Potters.

There is certainly scope for him to go somewhere, have a full pre-season and be a regular starter, as this is something he is yet to experience since joining Spurs.

If Forest are keen and show a genuine interest, then the only obstacle here would be other sides registering an interest.
