Manager Ivan Juric urges Southampton to keep forgotten winger Kamaldeen Sulemana amidst Genoa's transfer interest.

It might be wise to admit that Southampton has had a tough fortune in player purchases in recent years. Except for a few deals, the Saints haven't been able to bring out the best from their new signings.

One such case has been of winger Kamaldeen Sulemana.

Brought in as the record signing in Southampton's history, the 22-year-old's club stats haven't been convincing so far. To the extent that he had been tipped to leave in January.

Finally, after a tumultuous period of struggle in his Saints career, there seems to be a glimmer of hope for Sulemana.

Recently, as quoted by Daily Echo, Saints boss Ivan Juric has urged the club to keep hold of the Ghanaian winger. This has come after the 22-year-old stood brilliant in Southampton's FA Cup win over Swansea.

Expressing his satisfaction over Sulemana's redemptive performance, Juric said: "Now, it's the first game that I'm satisfied with him, assist and goal. He's a young player, he needs confidence but he can give us a hand."

Further, the Croatian manager explicitly stated his desire for the club to continue with Sulemana.

In Juric's words: "I think he's a good player and now, in this moment, the good players have to stay in Southampton. For me, all the good players have to stay here."

Yesterday, some clubs including Patrick Viera's Genoa had shown interest in the attacker, but for now, such a possibility might be over.

Apart from Tyler Dibling and Cameron Archer, no other attacker has looked promising for the Saints. Thus, it is clear that Sulemana will get to start in the next two games, at the least.

Hoping that we get accustomed to watching more of these performances from Sulemana in a Southampton shirt.
