Some Manchester United fans react as Ralf Rangnick takes over as interim manager

As confirmed by the club’s official Twitter handle, Manchester United have appointed visionary German manager, Ralf Rangnick as their interim boss until the end of the season.

The 62-year-old will replace Michael Carrick who took over as caretaker manager following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s sacking. The Englishman led Man United to a win and a draw in his two games in charge.

Despite perhaps not spending too much time in the front office, Rangnick is set to stick around at Old Trafford after the end of this season for the next two years as a consultant. This is good news for the Red Devils, who will now have a real football man to weigh in with his outputs.

Rangnick himself is excited to be part of the legendary side and will hope to bring success to the club this season. Despite being knocked out of the Carabao Cup, the Red Devils still have a lot to play for.

“I am excited to be joining Manchester United and focused on making this a successful season for the club.”

A very experienced manager who is famed for his visionary tactics and understanding of the game, Man United might as well have hit the jackpot this time. Whether Rangnick is truly the man to bring back the good times to Old Trafford remains to be seen.

After all, this isn’t a long-term solution for Solskjaer being sacked. The club would still need to look for a permanent manager next year, and that would be a tough task. We have appointed a number of managers since Sir Alex Ferguson retired all those years back, but to no avail, especially with the long-term picture in mind.

For now, fans are excited at the news and are looking forward to seeing him take over. We look at how some of them reacted on Twitter.
