"It’s never been the same for them": Jamie Carragher on why Mohamed Salah should sign

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has explained why Reds forward Mohamed Salah should remain at Anfield.

The Egyptian international is out of contract at the conclusion of next season. It has been reported that Liverpool have presented Salah with a new deal, but he believes he deserves more from the club in terms of wages.

However, Carragher has warned the 29-year-old of what could potentially happen if he moved to another team.

“I’m desperate for Mo Salah to sign and I think he should sign," he told Sky Sports.

"What I said before about Jurgen Klopp and what he’s done with this club. He’s turned good players into great players, Mo Salah was one of those, he was a very good player, now he’s a superstar.

"Gini Wijnaldum was one of them, Coutinho was one of them, there was another in Emre Can who wasn’t quite at that level, but these are three players who maybe thought they deserved more from Liverpool in terms of wages, they moved, and it’s never been the same for them."

Anfield Watch Verdict

We completely agree with Carragher's take. The reality is, Salah is performing well for Liverpool and he is idolised by the Anfield faithful.

The Reds are also competing for every major honour in club football. Life is good for Salah at Liverpool.

As Carragher implied, Coutinho and Wijnaldum were very good players for the Reds. But, they have regressed since leaving.

Coutinho, who left the club in January 2018 for Barcelona, was sold by the La Liga side to Aston Villa this year.

Wijnaldum, who departed Anfield and joined Paris Saint-Germain last summer, is not a regular starter for the Ligue one team.

The same could potentially happen to Salah if he left Liverpool.
