Chelsea had a hugely disappointing result against West Ham on Saturday lunchtime and to be honest, it follows a string of more lacklustre performances and results from Thomas Tuchel’s side.

Saturday was tarred by unforced errors from Chelsea and it was totally on them that they lost. But there was also a couple of poor performances being questioned after the game, one of which was Romelu Lukaku, who came on at half time to try and change things for Chelsea and after an injury to Kai Havertz.

He didn’t look right from the minute he came on and he didn’t play a good match, but Tuchel has since revealed via the Chelsea website that the Belgian international was not yet ready to play 45 minutes after his recent injury that saw him miss the last 5 odd weeks.

Tuchel takes the blame entirely but says they needed his height.

“It’s my fault,” he said.

“I don’t think he is ready for 45 minutes physically but still we decided to bring him on for his height because we lost Kai.

“Kai had a crucial role in defending set-pieces, which is a huge threat from West Ham, so this is on me. I took the decision so it’s my responsibility.”
