Rumours of a generous bid for Lennon Miller, and why not? He may well be a long term replacement for Callum McGregor…

Celtic are apparently interested in a January swoop for highly rated Motherwell youngster Lennon Miller and it’s a move that would make perfect sense for Brendan Rodgers.

As reported yesterday on The Celtic Star it’s been rumoured on the notable Facebook account The Fitbaw Gospel, which whilst not being known as a ‘in the know account’ it’s one that is often reliable.

It’s something I can certainly believe as Brendan Rodgers has been long said to be an admirer of the player who just recently skippered the Steelmen in a Premier Sports cup semi-final against theRangers at the tender age of 18. Miller has played plenty of games for one so young and he’s impressed me with his ability and maturity whenever I’ve seen him play.

Any potential deal would see us break the transfer record between two Scottish clubs which is of course the £4.4 million we paid for Scott Brown back in 2007, and just like the Broony fee, it would be money well spent in my book.

In recent years several young Scottish talent has been somewhat overlooked and went on to successfully elsewhere, and it’s high time we put that right and take a chance on players on our own doorstep.

Miller could also prove to be the perfect long term replacement for Callum McGregor who while not past it just yet, is approaching the latter stages of his career. Miller clearly has the talent and Brendan Rodgers would not only get the best out of him, but would vastly improve him as a footballer.

We would need to splash out some serious cash – over £5m apparently – to tempt Motherwell to part with their most prized asset, but it would prove to be a bargain in the long run. The report also states that theRangers are interested in the player and no wonder. But the level of their financial interest is much lower than Motherwell’s valuation. When money is tight and you need a car you don’t buy a Rolls Royce. You can’t afford it. Reality bites.
