The departing Divock Origi has spoken about what it has meant to play for Liverpool.

After the club's final Premier League game of the season against Wolverhampton Wanderers, which took place at Anfield yesterday, the forward said that it has been an "honour" representing the Reds.

“Honestly, I feel honoured. It was an honour to be able to play here in Anfield with teammates, with staff (and) with the fans – it’s been an honour. I’ve been able to see us winning so much – it goes beyond words. It’s been an honour," Origi told the club's official website, as cited by Anfield Watch on Twitter.

“We fought so hard – we had an unbelievable season and I feel proud. Obviously, we wanted to win it (the Premier League title)… on one side you’re hurt, because you wanted to win, but on the other the overall feeling is very proud and happy.

“I know that this club will continue to be the special club that it is. It’s in unbelievable hands. There will be unbelievable moments. I’m just so happy that I’ve been able to play my part in this beautiful club.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

What a crazy Liverpool career Origi has had. From a career-ending injury to now becoming one of the greatest cult heroes in the club's history.

It's hard to remember but before his famous moment against Everton, there were talks that the Belgian would be sold.

Thankfully that never transpired and he is now leaving as a club legend.

The guard of honour and the standing ovation he got from the Liverpool players, staff and fans yesterday was fully deserved.

He will always be welcomed back to Liverpool with open arms and his contribution to the city can not be understated either. His scholarship programme with Liverpool University just proves how much he loves the place and the people.

Thank you for everything Divock. We will be keeping a keen eye on your future career!
