Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal has this week spoken out regarding the possibility of inheriting the club’s famed no.10 jersey for next season.

The subject of Barca’s plans for the club’s 10 shirt has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital for some time now.

As much comes amid the understanding that the aforementioned Lamine could well be entrusted with the number for next season.

The 16-year-old is widely considered to be the greatest talent produced by La Masia since the most iconic Blaugrana ’10’ of all time, in Lionel Messi.

At present, it is Ansu Fati who holds the squad number at Barcelona.

The Spanish international, however, is of course out on loan for the season, lining out for Premier League outfit Brighton & Hove Albion in a bid to rediscover his best form.

The 10 jersey, as a result, has not been seen by those of a Blaugrana persuasion for some time now.

Speaking during an interview with Mundo Deportivo this week, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of taking on the responsibility of the shirt in question was put to Lamine himself.

And though he was keen to reiterate that Ansu should still be considered Barca’s 10, the explosive wide-man could not help but admit that having the jersey passed down to him would mark ‘a dream’:

“As you said, it is Ansu’s number 10 but if in the end he is not still here, it would be a source of pride. It would be a dream for any child to be Barça’s number 10. Nobody in this world would say no, but it is something that the club must manage.”
