Just the other week some English journalist from The Athletic was telling a podcast audience that the Celtic support hate Joe Hart because he’s English. That’s got to be one of the most ludicrous remarks of the season and it certainly is far from the truth. Joe Hart since coming to Celtic has found a home in football again and at Paradise he’s found a place where he’s loved.

Indeed here’s Joe acknowledging the warm welcome he received from his new Celtic family…

The Celtic fans don’t reckon he’s the best goalkeeper in the world, we’ve seen one or two mistakes throughout that remarkable season, but never once did the support turn on Hart and to be frank he never really tested our patience too much did he?

Asked to play a completely different style of football, with the goalkeeper an integral part of building the play from the back, Hart accepted the challenge and is as enthusiastic as anyone in that Celtic squad about running out there every week to wear that jersey and represent this football club that he’s already come to love.

And Celtic have players from all over the world, plenty coming from England over the years and none of them have ever ben disliked because of which country they come from.

Joe Hart wasn’t thinking about any of that nonsense on Saturday as he spoke Sky Sports after the match on Saturday…

Q: Sum up the scenes…

Joe Hart:”Decent. No, we worked hard from the off. There was obviously disappointment last season. A few of us didn’t experience it but we certainly felt it when we came. But it’s a breath of fresh air with the manager. Strong beliefs, strong principles, working as a team and that it doesn’t matter who you are, you get your head down and you work. We bought into that and here we are now with medals around our necks.”

Q: You’ve won titles before – do you try to compare them or do you appreciate it as time goes on?

Joe Hart: “I live in the moment. This is my moment right now. I couldn’t be happier. I’m proud to be here and be a part of what’s going on.”

Q: Champions League to come next season, is that a good carrot?

Joe Hart: “I didn’t think I’d be in that again. It’s not guaranteed. It’s the kind of club where people come in, you never know what’s going to happen. But I’m going to put myself front of the queue and hopefully I’ll be in goal for it.”

Here are the match highlights from the Trophy Day 6-0 win over Motherwell.
