Exactly 21 years have passed since Manchester United’s remarkable comeback against Juventus in the 1999 Champions League semi-final.
Having drawn the first leg at 1-1 at Old Trafford, United went into the second knowing they had to score an away goal if they were to meet either Bayern Munich or Dynamo Kyiv in the final.
But after 11 minutes, Juventus were leading 2-0 on the night (3-1 on aggregate) and it looked like Sir Alex Ferguson’s side were crashing out.
That was until goals from Roy Keane, Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole turned the tie on its head to send United through, and the rest is history.
The match is remembered as arguably Keane’s finest hour in a United shirt, given he scored a vital goal after he had been booked earlier in the match, meaning he knew he would be suspended for the final.
And the footage from United’s dressing room after the final whistle is brilliant viewing …
Here’s ITV commentator Clive Tyldesley’s match notes from the night …
