It's been a remarkable season for Newport County's Will Evans and his goalscoring exploits has inevitably led to transfer interest from clubs in higher divisions.

Less than two seasons ago, Evans was playing Welsh domestic football in the Cymru Premier for Bala Town, and had previously worked as a dairy farmer, highlighting his unconventional rise to the EFL.

In the space of two years, the Welshman has gone from playing semi-professional football to scoring against Manchester United in the FA Cup.

Whilst his goal against the Red Devils brought Evans to national attention, the Exiles' forward has been quietly going about his business at League Two level this season and has bagged 20 goals in 38 appearances for the Welsh club this season.

Championship clubs Swansea City and Huddersfield Town were linked with Evans in November, according to TeamTalk, and it would be no surprise if more Championship clubs were interested in the former Bala man after his recent cup exploits.

Swansea and Huddersfield should maintain their interest in Will Evans

Despite both Swansea and Huddersfield having new managers since their interest was first mentioned in November, both clubs, along with other Championship clubs, should be looking to sign Evans in the summer.

As it stands, the 26-year-old is out of contract at Rodney Parade in the summer and would be available on a free transfer.

It remains to be seen whether Evans will sign a new deal with the Exiles, but you'd have thought that it would take an attractive offer for the player to put pen to paper on a new deal with the League Two side with clubs in higher divisions interested in the player.

However, it was reported by BBC Sport that Newport chairman Huw Jenkins revealed that the club "turned down a number of written offers for our top goalscorer Will Evans."

With the player's contract expiring at Rodney Parade in the summer, the January transfer window offered Newport a chance to cash in on the player. If the club were reluctant to sell, it perhaps suggests that the club are confident that Evans will sign a new deal.

Swansea and Huddersfield don't have a great record in front of goal this season, having only found the back of the net 39 and 33 times respectively.

Evans is able to play on both the wing and as a striker, showing his versatility, and his goal against Manchester United shows that he's able to score against top opposition.

Swansea have struggled in the striker department since Joel Piroe's departure, with summer striker signings Jerry Yates and Mykola Kukharevych flattering to deceive in south Wales. Yates has found the back of the net seven times for the Swans, while Kukharevych has struggled for playing time and scored just once.

Despite being Swansea's top scorer, Jerry Yates was linked with a January move to Blackburn Rovers, perhaps showing that the Swans' management haven't been overly impressed with him.

Huddersfield, on the other hand, are one of the division's lowest scorers and only five teams have scored less than their tally of 33 league goals this season.

Their top scorer, Michal Helik, is a centre-back, helping to highlight that the club need attacking reinforcements in the summer.

The Terriers, and Swansea to a certain extent, are in danger of relegation to League One next season. It's clear they need to make positive moves in the summer and signing Will Evans would certainly fit the bill.
