Italy are an extraordinarily tough Nations League group, so we look at their history against France, Belgium and Israel.

The Azzurri are in easily the most difficult group of the League A draw with a competition that runs from September 2024 to the Final Four in June 2025.

There is a new quarter-final stage introduced in March 2025, so the top two from each group will go into that phase, while the bottom team is relegated to League B.

Italy have a good record in the Nations League, securing third place in each of the last two editions.

However, their results against France have not always been so reassuring, amassing 19 wins, eight draws and 12 defeats.

The Azzurri lost their last three meetings with Les Bleus, but they were all friendlies, whereas Italy won 2-0 in the EURO 2008 group clash.

The most recent competitive defeat was 3-1 in the EURO 2008 qualifiers, just weeks after Italy beat France on penalties to lift the 2006 World Cup.

Italy have an extremely good record against Belgium, emerging with 16 victories, four draws and only four losses.

Their most recent meeting was in the Nations League third-place final, a 2-1 Azzurri win in October 2021.

They’ve won three in a row against Belgium, all tournament fixtures, not losing a competitive match since the May 1972 EURO play-off.

Italy have never lost to Israel, managing four wins and a single draw, 0-0 at the 1970 World Cup.

They met most recently in the EURO 2018 qualifying group, winning 3-1 away and 1-0 at home.
