Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella has won praise for his tireless effort in the midfield battle against Venezia yesterday.

Today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, hail the 27-year-old’s workrate, even in a match where he wasn’t at his best in an attacking sense.

Barella had a lot of pressure on his shoulders as the one regular starter in midfield for Inter yesterday.

With injuries restricting his choices, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi selected a midfield trio of Barella, Kristjan Asllani, and Piotr Zielinski. Those three have never started a match before.

However, that did not look to be too much of a problem. Inter managed to hold out well in the midfield battle.

Nicolo Barella Wins Praise For Tireless Performance Vs Venezia

Barella was the player who faced the pressure of keeping a sense of normality in Inter’s midfield.

However, the former Cagliari man managed to do just that.

Barella did not have too many big flashy moments in possession, though. He was not a major factor in the final third.

However, what the Italian international did provide was consistency.

Barella ran himself into the ground to cover the spaces and keep Inter’s midfield compact.

And the 27-year-old’s technical ability was on full display as Inter looked to deny Venezia the ball in dangerous areas, preventing counterattacks.
