Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella has won praise for an “inspired” performance in his team’s Serie A draw with Bologna.
Today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, hail the 27-year-old for his efforts to drive his team up the pitch in the 2-2 draw.
Bologna managed to make life very difficult for Inter through much of yesterday’s match.
Particularly in the opening stages of the first half, the Rossoblu were able to effectively put Inter under pressure.
Therefore, the Nerazzurri were in need of their big name players stepping up.
And that was exactly what Barella did.
Barella seemed to recognize that Inter were struggling to really string passes together through Bologna’s pressure.
Therefore, the Italian international took it upon himself to take control of the match.
Barella showed his footwork and burst of acceleration to drive through the Bologna midfield on several occasions.
This was a key part of Inter finally starting to settle into the match. They were able to push Bologna back thanks to Barella’s efforts.
The 27-year-old was not able to turn the match into a win for Inter.
But it certainly was not due to any lack of trying.
