Midfielder Davide Frattesi will not put up with another season where he is primarily a substitute or backup option at Inter Milan.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Frattesi arrived at Inter last summer.

And despite the Nerazzurri making a big investment to sign the Italian international from Sassuolo, in his first season at the club he was not a regular starter.

This was not necessarily a big surprise.

Frattesi was coming into a new environment as a young player. He had to try and break into a midfield containing players like Nicolo Barella, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and Hakan Calhanoglu.

Therefore, it was always likely that there would be a long period of settling in.

Frattesi understood why he was not a regular starter last season. He made his contribution when he had his chances.

The arrival of midfielder Piotr Zielinski from Napoli over the summer introduced even more competition in Frattesi’s position.

But the player himself feels that the time has now arrived for him to start more matches.

Last season, Frattesi understood that he was still settling in. He appreciated the chance to adjust, learn from his more experienced teammates, and not get thrown into the deep end.

But the 24-year-old feels that he has already proven himself now.

Frattesi has generally shown how he can fit into the team when he’s come off the bench for Inter.

And, paradoxically, the Nerazzurri midfielder is a regular starter for Italy.

Frattesi has had an extremely eye-catching international break. He scored in both the Azzurri’s Nations League matches during the break.

After that, Frattesi will have less patience than ever with the prospect of continuing to have a less prominent role for Inter.
