Midfielder Davide Frattesi will start for Inter Milan in tomorrow’s Serie A match against Monza after some standout performances for Italy over the break.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Frattesi’s somewhat unusual situation between his club and country was a hot topic during the international break.

The 24-year-old has yet to nail down a starting place for himself at Inter.

So far this season, Frattesi has appeared in all three of the Nerazzurri’s Serie A matches. But only as a substitute.

Meanwhile, Frattesi started in both of Italy’s Nations League matches during the international break.

And the Inter midfielder proved exactly why he is a starter for the Azzurri. He capped off two excellent displays with goals.

Frattesi’s performances for Italy have only increased the pressure for the 24-year-old to start getting more playing time for Inter.

The sense is that Frattesi cannot just be a substitute for the Nerazzurri.

Thus far Frattesi has mostly either been used to give the first-choice midfielders a breather at Inter, or to impact matches during the second half.

But Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi will understand that he needs to get more out of Frattesi.

Thus, the former Sassuolo midfielder will start tomorrow evening.

Inter travel to Monza in their return to Serie A action from the break.

There will be a fair bit of squad rotation for the match. Inter’s next two matches are significant ones, away to Manchester City in the Champions League and then the derby against AC Milan.

And Frattesi will be ready to try and carry his momentum from the break into the league with Inter.

The Italian international will get his first start of the season for his club.
