Defender Alessandro Bastoni says that he would “throw himself into the fire” for Inter Milan.

The 25-year-old spoke to Milan-based newspaper Il Giornale, via FCInterNews, after the Nerazzurri’s Serie A title triumph.

Bastoni is now coming to the end of his fifth season as an Inter player.

The former Parma and Atalanta defender may still only be in his mid-twenties. But he has been a key player in the Nerazzurri’s starting eleven for half a decade.

Naturally, this has led to a fair bit of transfer interest in Bastoni over the years.

The likes of Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, and Bayern Munich among others have all shown interest in the Italian international.

However, Bastoni has always stayed loyal to Inter.

The defender signed a new contract until the end of June 2027 last summer.

And by all accounts, Bastoni is more than happy right where he is.

Alessandro Bastoni: “I’d Jump Into The Fire For Inter”

Bastoni commented that at Inter, “I’ve always said that we have a very strong Italian core within the team.”

“That’s important to have. It can make the difference in Serie A.”

“You have to know the league you’re playing in,” said the Inter defender. “You have to have the league in your DNA.”

Bastoni noted that “The other morning we spent an hour in the pouring rain working on set pieces.”

“That’s the big theme of the season we’ve had,” the 25-year-old continued. “Preparing every last detail, studying them, testing them.”

“Never give anything away easily.”

“We’ve managed to learn a lot from the mistakes we’ve made in past seasons,” Bastoni continued. “Not repeating those same mistakes has been our strength.”

The Inter defender then looked back on last summer. “Twelve players left, and we were afraid that we’d become weaker.”

“We didn’t know who would come in to replace them.”

“And instead, in the end, the new arrivals, other than being extremely talented, have had a great desire to fit in to this team, to do something great.”

“Winning with Inter is the most beautiful thing for me,” Bastoni said. “It represents a lot for me.”

“We’ve made a lot of sacrifices in recent years,” the 25-year-old continued.

“And we’ve also suffered a lot of disappointments.”

“But now I look at the team, the coaching staff.. I feel they’re my family, my second family.”

“I would throw myself into the fire for this family,” Bastoni said of being at Inter.
