It was a busy week for the Italy internationals in the Premier League over the last few days, as Riccardo Calafiori marked his full league debut for Arsenal with a stunner against Manchester City, Federcio Chiesa got his first real Liverpool minutes, while Guglielmo Vicario got away with an error in goal for Tottenham.

Here is how every Italy player performed in the Premier League over the latest round of fixtures.

Calafiori stars in Man City 2-2 Arsenal

The former Bologna centre-back got his first start in an Arsenal shirt in the biggest Premier League fixture of the season thus far, lining up on the left of a back four against Pep Guardiola’s reigning champions, Manchester City.

Arsenal fell behind early on, courtesy of Erling Haaland, but the scores were levelled with a Calafiori stunner; bending a left-footed effort away from Ederson and into the top corner of the net from the edge of the penalty area.

A hectic game saw a 10-man Arsenal have to settle for a point after a 98th minute equaliser, but Calafiori received rave reviews for his performance, with an average rating of 8/10 in the British press.

Chiesa comes close for Liverpool

Federico Chiesa made his Premier League debut as a second half substitute in Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.

The former Juventus winger almost made it a perfect start, hitting the post after an exchange on the edge of the area with Cody Gakpo, but the offside flag had been raised anyway.

Vicario gets away with a fumble

Guglielmo Vicario managed to avoid punishment after accidentally handling the ball outside of his penalty area during Tottenham’s 3-1 win over Brentford.

The referee would have been within his rights to issue a yellow card and a free-kick in a dangerous position, but he did not spot it and VAR was not utilised as it did not deny an obvious goalscoring opportunity.

Though Tottenham went on to record a routine victory, there have been growing complaints over Vicario’s ability when it comes to claiming crosses.

“100% NOT a red card!” Why didn’t VAR get involved after Italy keeper Guglielmo Vicario handled the ball outside the box? 🤔 pic.twitter.com/DzuJfGH4oH — Sky Sports Premier League (@SkySportsPL) September 23, 2024

Every other Italy player in the Premier League this weekend

Destiny Udogie was also part of the Tottenham side that beat Brentford 3-1. 57-time Italy international Jorginho was an unused substitute in Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Man City.

Newcastle have lost two matches in a row, most recently a 3-1 away to Fulham, but Sandro Tonali has only appeared as a substitute in their last three Premier League fixtures.

Recent Italy squad member Caleb Okoli has played 90 minutes in each of Leicester City’s last two matches, each resulting in a draw, with a 1-1 at home to Everton on Saturday.

Emerson Palmieri lined up as a starter in West Ham’s 3-0 loss to Chelsea. Cesare Casadei was not named in Enzo Maresca’s matchday squad.
