But sadly for the 36-year-old, it remains easier said than done.

It all began in the Serie A showdown between Inter and Napoli just before the international break.

During the match, Napoli defender Juan Jesus accused Acerbi of addressing him by using racial slurs. This sparked an investigation by the Italian Football Federation.

For his part, the Inter veteran denied these allegations, insisting he never used the n-word.

In the end, the sporting justice found Acerbi not guilty due to the lack of evidence.

But while the legal procedure is now behind him, the Italian is still struggling with the emotional backlash.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport via FcInterNews, Acerbi is relieved by the verdict but remains shaken by the insults and accusations directed towards him and his family.

So as the source explains, the defender seeks a return to normality and has already resumed training.

However, overcoming the ugly row requires additional time.

The Roman newspaper also reveals that the Italy international has been eager to explain himself to the press.

However, the club advised him to remain silent for now and wait until the right moment to share his own version of the events with the public.

Acerbi should resume action on Monday when Inter Milan host Empoli at San Siro. The Nerazzurri ultras have already voiced their support for the veteran.

Nevertheless, the source wonders how opposition fans will receive Acerbi when Inter are on the road.
