Davide Frattesi and Marcus Thuram could be among the starters for a new-look Inter Milan side in the Serie A opener against Monza.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who detail the Nerazzurri’s preparations for the start of a new season with a number of new players in tow.

It’s only been less than two months since Inter played in the Champions League final against Manchester City.

However, the period since that match has seen no shortage of upheaval in the Nerazzurri’s squad.

There have already been five new arrivals through the door. A couple more signings should follow within the next few days, and several more are likely to come in before the summer transfer window.

Therefore, Inter’s summer rebuilt is nowhere near complete. But it is already far enough along that a new core of players is beginning to start to take shape.

New-Look Inter Likely In Attack & Midfield Vs Monza

The Corriere notes that one new face who is already likely to make his Serie A debut against Monza is Marcus Thuram.

Out this summer are Edin Dzeko, who started the Champions League final, and Romelu Lukaku, who came off the bench.

Therefore, it is likely to be Thuram who leads the line against the Brianzoli. He is set to start alongside the stalwart Lautaro Martinez, Inter’s new captain.

And then in midfield, Davide Frattesi is another player who has a very good chance of already making his first Inter star in Serie A against Monza.

The 23-year-old, who spent the 2020-21 season on loan with the Brianzoli, is ahead of Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the race to start that math, reports the Corriere.

And in goal as well, departure for Andre Onana and Samir Handanovic necessitate a change.

With Yann Sommer only a day or two away from signing, his status looks clear. Barring major surprises, the 34-year-old will be the man between the posts against Monza.

And on the right flank as well, a fourth new face could also be in Inter’s starting lineup.

Juan Cuadrado made the surprise switch from Juventus on a free transfer this summer. The Colombian has been one of the Nerazzurri’s outstanding performers in preseason.

Therefore, the Corriere reports, Cuadrado is currently in pole position to start against Monza.

If anyone though that the 35-year-old veteran arrived purely as injury cover for Denzel Dumfries, they may quickly be proven wrong. It may in fact be the Dutchman trying to work his way back into the team starting from day one.
