“Humility must be at the core. You can learn and improve on the pitch, but the foundation there must always be the desire to get better,” Fabbian said.

“Playing with the national team is a great source of pride. I think it’s every child’s dream. I also had the opportunity to play with the youth teams, and wearing the Blue shirt is always an honour.”

Fabbian, 22, has recently started University economics courses.

“I’m studying economics through an online university. I believe it’s a path that aligns with my way of thinking,” he said.

“I did it to find something outside of football because a footballer’s career isn’t very long. When it ends, a new life begins, and there are opportunities to do other things. That’s mainly why I chose to do it.”

The Bologna midfielder also has very clear targets on the pitch.

“Of course, people expect Italy to play in the World Cup. As an outside observer, some time ago, I was disappointed not to see them there. Now we’re working hard to achieve this goal.

“We can play alongside great champions, and we need to try to take in as much as possible. It’s an honour to be by their side. It’s a great opportunity, and I try to make the most of these moments.

“I’ve welcomed this call-up with calm and serenity. It’s always a source of pride to be part of this group and this history. I try to live it and enjoy this experience to the best of my ability.”
