Italy are through to the Nations League finals following a 2-0 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina

After testing the goalkeeper with a couple of early efforts, Andrea Belotti opened the scoring for Italy after 22 minutes when he volleyed into the far corner after a pinpoint Lorenzo Insigne pass.

That was how it stayed until Domenico Berardi doubled the Azzurri’s advantage in the 68th minute with a sweet, left-footed volley.

Bosnia and Herzegovina had already been relegated to League B before tonight’s game.

Netherlands come from behind against Poland but it’s not enough

That result for Italy meant the Netherlands missed out on a place in the finals despite a 2-1 win over Poland in Chorzów.

Poland took the lead after just six minutes when Derby County winger Kamil Jóźwiak scored a mazy Lionel Messi-esque goal, with his eventual shot going in off the post.

But with 15 minutes remaining, Memphis Depay equalised from the penalty spot with a strike which gave Łukasz Fabiański no chance.

And in the 84th minute, Gini Wijnaldum completed the comeback with a super finish to make it 2-1.

The Dutch finish second in Group A1, while Poland finish third.

Lukaku at the double as Belgium book final berth

Belgium will join Italy, Spain and France in the finals following a 4-2 victory over Denmark in Leuven.

It took the hosts just three minutes to hit their stride when Youri Tielemans latched onto a half-clearance from Pierre-Emile Højbjerg and lashed a shot past Leicester team-mate Kasper Schmeichel for the game’s opening goal.

Denmark soon hit back when Martin Braithwaite’s shot deflected into the path of Jonas Wind, who headed home the equaliser.

But Belgium re-established their lead after the break when Kevin De Bruyne slipped in Romelu Lukaku, and the striker finished expertly into the corner.

And Lukaku then made it 3-1 when he headed his second goal of the night into the roof of the net.

Denmark then pulled a goal back thanks to a Thibaut Courtois blunder with five minutes to go, but no sooner had they done so than De Bruyne made it 4-2 to Belgium.

That result means Denmark finish second in Group A2.

England ease past Iceland in Wembley dead rubber

England got themselves a confidence-restoring 4-0 victory over Iceland at Wembley.

Declan Rice opened the scoring after 20 minutes with his first England goal, before Mason Mount made it 2-0 with a terrific goal a few minutes later.

And Phil Foden then bagged his first two England senior goals in the final 10 minutes to complete the rout.

Gareth Southgate’s side already knew they would finish third before the match, while Iceland’s relegation to League B had also already been confirmed.
