Inter midfielders Davide Frattesi and Kristjan Asllani and wingback Carlos Augusto will start against Fiorentina this evening.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews. The Corriere anticipate on the Nerazzurri starting eleven for the Serie A clash.
Inter coach Simone Inzaghi is ready to make a few changes to the starting eleven for this evening’s match, in comparison to the team that started against Napoli in the Supercoppa Italiana final last Monday.
Two of these well be enforced. And both of those will be in midfield.
Inter midfielders Nicolo Barella and Hakan Calhanoglu will both be absent through suspension. Both picked up yellow cards during the Supercoppa Italiana.
Both Barella and Calhanoglu had been one booking from suspension.
And because bookings in the Supercoppa count towards Serie A matches, this means that Inter will be without two of the three members of their starting midfield trio.
That means that young midfielders Frattesi and Asllani will both be in the starting eleven.
Meanwhile, veteran former Roma and Arsenal midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan will take up his usual position.
But those two changes of necessity will not be the only ones that Inzaghi makes this evening.
The Corriere report that the Inter coach will also make a big change on the left flank.
Brazilian former Monza wingback Augusto will start the match in place of Federico Dimarco at left-wingback.
This could be in order to preserve the fitness of Dimarco, a key player on the left for the Nerazzurri, ahead of next weekend’s showdown against Serie A title rivals Juventus.
That would also appear to be the case in defense, where Inzaghi will have a bit of a decision to make between two Italian internationals.
The Corriere report that Inzaghi is leaning towards starting Alessandro Bastoni, and leaving Francesco Acerbi out of the starting eleven.
Bastoni has been recovering from some muscular fatigue. And reports had suggested that the 24-year-old, who did not start against Napoli, would get a rest.
But the Corriere report that now Inzaghi has actually decided to start Bastoni this evening.
Therefore, the Nerazzurri coach will instead give Acerbi a chance to take a breather ahead of the match against Juventus.
Stefan de Vrij and Benjamin Pavard will make up the remainder of the back three.
And in attack, the Corriere report, it will be the usual starting pair of Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram.
