Italiano voices joy after defeating Milan’s team of ‘champions’: “A great team” | OneFootball

Last night’s defeat to Bologna was only the latest poor result in a long line of disappointments for AC Milan this season, and Vincenzo Italiano reviewed his side’s performance after full-time.

Before the game, everything had been about Milan’s chances of Champions League football. In other words, the pressure was on. However, given the season so far, this is a team that needs to be able to play with the pressure they have brought on themselves.

Of course, we know they can’t do that though.

Instead of taking a huge three points in a game that would propel them towards the Champions League places, the Rossoneri fell on their own sword and were their own worst enemies.

It is a heavily damaging result for several reasons, but the biggest issue will be moving forwards into a probably Europe-less season.

Italiano spoke after the game about his side’s triumph, and his words have been relayed by Milan News.

What do you rejoice about?

“Performance first and foremost. We prepared a double game this week, today’s and the one against Cagliari. It was a recovery, we wanted to add points to our ranking and we succeeded: great performance, deserved victory, we created a lot and conceded little.

“I’m happy for the boys’ reaction, we don’t make mistakes, especially at home, and this character allows us to make important comebacks.

“Milan is a great team, with talent, speed, champions, and if they go over then they punish you if you try to recover. We did well.”

What batteries did you put in Ndoye?

“We don’t. He is fine. He must have the same mentality away from home, we need him. But everyone has to find a solution even away from home, finding the solutions we have at home.”

Are you happy with everyone?
