There’s no doubt Chelsea will be looking at options to improve the squad during the summer transfer window. One position of interest is a left-back. Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell has been heavily linked, but another reported option is Porto full-back, Alex Telles.

Italian transfer expert, Nicolo Schira, has claimed talks have started between Chelsea and Porto.

The 27-year-old fits the bill, with pace, skill, and an ability to create. The Brazilian is also more than capable defensively. The question marks over Marcos Alonso, and Emerson Palmieri have been their ability to defend.

Alonso in particular fits a wing-back role better than as a left-back as part of a back-four. It’s fair to say the Spaniard has performed brilliantly in recent weeks in his preferred attacking role.

It was in that position that Alonso excelled under former Blues boss, Antonio Conte, now manager at Inter Milan. A possible £25m move has been mooted.

Telles could prove to be a good bit of business for Chelsea. The Brazilian international is out of contract at the end of next season, making him a cheaper option than Chilwell. A fee of around £35m should be enough to secure his services.
