Inter forward Joaquin Correa may have one final opportunity to prove himself in a Nerazzurri shirt before the club lose faith with him.
This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who suggest that time is running out for the 28-year-old but that the period from March onwards could still be the perfect time for him to make an impact.
Correa has not come close to living up to expectations since his arrival at Inter from Lazio in the summer of 2021.
A lot of this has come down to injury and fitness problems, whilst the Argentine has looked out of place and low and confidence more often than not on the occasions where he has actually had the opportunity to play.
The most recent injury that Correa picked up is set to rule the 28-year-old out until sometime in mid-March, another blow for his chances of establishing himself at Inter.
However, as the Gazzetta notes, the timing may not be as bad as it looks for Correa.
The former Biancocelesti, Sevilla, and Sampdoria player is likely to return just in time for the second leg of Inter’s Champions League clash with Porto, whilst a Derby d’Italia match against Juventus in Serie A is soon to follow.
The Nerazzurri will face a packed schedule in which every match is vital to fighting on multiple fronts starting next month, and they will need to call on all the resources in their squad that they can.
In this sense, the Gazzetta argues, Correa could have one final opportunity to carve out a place for himself at Inter and make his mark when it matters most.
If the Argentine fails to do so in this period, then his time at Inter may be up, but if he can turn things around, there would be no better time.
