Wingback Denzel Dumfries has been named as Inter’s standout performer in their 2-1 Serie A win over Lecce yesterday evening.

The Dutchman received a 7.5/10 grade for his display off the bench in the player ratings for the match published in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, which was the highest of any Nerazzurri player in their first outing of the season.

Dumfries was left out of Inter’s starting eleven in place of Matteo Darmian, but coach Simone Inzaghi turned to the 26-year-old to give the team some energy as they searched for a winner in the second half.

The coach was rewarded as the Dutchman looked lively and gave Lecce’s left side something different to think about, and he capped off his night by bundling in the Nerazzurri’s winning goal right at the death.

Meanwhile, defender Federico Dimarco was given a positive score of 7/10 and Lautaro Martinez received a 6.5/10 grade largely on the basis of his assist for Dumfries’s winner.

Less positive were the scores for the trio of Stefan de Vrij, Milan Skriniar, and Robin Gosens who were deemed worthy of just 5.5/10, whilst Hakan Calhanoglu’s display was judged the worst of any Inter players and given a 5/10 score.
