Inter will feel that they have what it takes to have a real run at the Champions League and at next month’s round of sixteen opponents Liverpool.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who highlight the reasons why the Nerazzurri will feel that they can compete in Europe’s top competition.

Inter are in the knockout rounds of the Champions League for the first time in a decade after qualifying out of the group stage with a match to spare.

The Nerazzurri showed encouraging signs in the competition over the last few seasons, but always fell at the first hurdle, partly because of stylistic limitations.

The Gazzetta highlights how compared to last campaign when the Nerazzurri were reliant on Romelu Lukaku for goals, this time around the goalscoring is spread more evenly through the team.

Inter have four useful attackers who can play from the start or from the bench, and have also scored freely through defenders, midfielders, and wide players all season in Serie A.

Now, Simone Inzaghi’s men will have a chance to prove that their possession-heavy style of both attacking and defending as a complete, fluid unit is up to the highest standard in continental competition.

Premier League side Liverpool will present very formidable opposition for the Nerazzurri, but in the view of the Gazzetta they should be up to the challenge on both a technical and tactical level.
