Federico Dimarco has received positive grades for his first start in an Italy shirt after he helped the Azzurri to a goalless draw against England yesterday evening.

The 24-year-old received decent if unspectacular grades in the player ratings for the match across Italian media, where he struggled at times with the surging runs of England’s Reece James but ultimately coped and did not look out of place.

Dimarco had come on as a substitute during the Azzurri’s past two matches of the international break, but against England coach Roberto Mancini went one better and handed the Nerazzurri man a place in the starting eleven.

Dimarco did not look quite as assured as his counterpart on the right, Napoli’s Giovanni Di Lorenzo, but ultimately comprised part of a backline which held firm against England’s attack.

Tuttosport and the Gazzetta dello Sport felt that Dimarco’s display was worthy of a 6.5/10 score, whilst the Gazzetta dello Sport went a little lower, giving him 6/10.
