Inter goalkeeper Andre Onana’s falling out with the Cameroonian national team looks to have had to do with a misunderstanding around some incidents in training.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInter1908, who detail the events that led to the 26-year-old being dropped from the team and then eventually suspended temporarily by the Cameroon FA at the World Cup in Qatar.

Onana had some disputes with members of Cameroon’s coaching staff after the team’s opening loss to Switzerland.

The topic of these disagreement concerned the Inter keeper’s positioning and tactical style of play.

Moreover, rumours circulated that Onana was critical of his teammate Nicolas Nkoulou, currently a defender for Aris Thessaloniki and formerly of Marseille, Lyon, Torino, and Watford.

According to the Corriere, the interventions of a representative of the FA in the dressing room named Ernest Obama also played a key role in escalating the tensions around the incident.

The newspaper reports that Obama spoke to Cameroonian FA President Samuel Eto’o, misrepresenting the nature of the incidents in training, and this was part of what led to Onana being suspended by the FA.

According to the Corriere, the Cameroonian squad now want Obama removed from the dressing room.
