Inter have come in for some criticism in Italian media for their decision to cash in on young midfielder Cesare Casadei ahead of his anticipated sale to Chelsea.

Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport note the difference between the Nerazzurri’s willingness to sacrifice a promising young midfielder like Casadei and their city rivals AC Milan’s increasing focus on young talent.

Inter’s plan looks to be clear as they offload 23-year-old striker Andrea Pinamonti and 19-year-old midfielder Casadei for significant fees rather than touching the first-team squad in order to bring in cash from the transfer market.

The Rossoneri, by contrast, seem to have a mandate to build around young talent, with their marquee addition during the summer transfer window having been 21-year-old attacking midfielder Charles de Ketelaere.

Milan won the Scudetto last season with several regular starters in that age range, namely Sandro Tonali, Pierre Kalulu, Rafael Leao, and Alexis Saelemakers, and the Gazzetta consider that Inter could stand to take some cues from their city rivals considering this success.
