Everything has changed when it comes to Diego Godin’s future with Inter according to a report from Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.com.
The experienced Uruguayan national team defender appeared set to leave the club just a few weeks ago but having cemented his place in the team in the past few weeks and shown much improved form, Inter manager Antonio Conte has changed his mind about him and a move away now longer seems so certain.
The report from the Itlaian news outlet goes on to explain that Conte intends to further reward Godin for his comitment and perserverance and the former Italian national team manager has also realised that the former Atletico Madrid player is an essential leader in the team.
34-year-old Godin arrived at Inter on a free transfer ahead of this season on a three year contract and he initially greatly struggled to adapt to the three at the back system that Conte uses. This season he has made 34 appearances, in which he has scored one goal and tallied one assist.
