Lautaro Martinez’s celebration last night was directed at those who have criticised him and think he is distracted by the ongoing media speculation regarding his future according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The highly rated 22-year-old striker scored a great goal when he came on in the second half of last night’s 2-0 win over Napoli and chose to silence his critics with his celebration.

Prior to his goal against Napoli, Lautaro had went four games without a goal which is only natural for all strikers but seems like an infinite amount of time when it comes to players like the Argentine, who fans have become accustomed to putting in top performances and scoring goals.

Lautaro has been heavily linked with a potential switch to Barcelona and has been offered a €10 million a year contract by them. Whilst the idea of playing with Lionel Messi may have contributed to Lautaro’s downturn in form, the report concludes that the crisis period now appears to be over for him.
