Italian Journalist Xavier Jacobelli: “We’ll See What Steven Zhang’s Plan Is In January, Oaktree Have No Intention Of Taking Over Inter” | OneFootball

Italian journalist Xavier Jacobelli believes that it will be early next year when the intentions of Inter President Steven Zhang become clearer with respect to the future of the club.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster TMW Radio, Jacobelli weighed in on how he thinks Zhang is planning to approach the future with the Nerazzurri, and also predicted that Oaktree Capital would have no plans to take over at the club as Elliott Management did at AC Milan.

Suning and Zhang’s future with the Nerazzurri has been called into question frequently over the past couple of years, as mounting financial issues have compromised their ability to run the club in a stable manner.

However, there have been many indications that the owners, and particularly Zhang, plan on staying on and trying to make nevertheless, and recent signs have suggested that the President still feels that a future is viable, and that the problems can be resolved.

Zhang and Suning could decide to persevere with the club, or look for a buyer, and according to Jacobelli it will be in January of next year that things become clearer.

“We’ll understand what Zhang’s plans are in January, when he has to make some important decisions,” he said.

Jacobelli also stated that “Zhang has given a mandate to a second American bank to find a buyer for Inter, partly because the loan has to be repaid to Oaktree, who have not intention of doing what Elliott did with Milan.”
