Italian journalist Niccolo Ceccarini has weighed in on the ramifications of Achraf Hakimi’s departure from Inter, thought to be imminent.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Radio Nerazzurra, the journalist predicted that the sale will almost happen, and suggested that with the finances thought to be involved Inter should be able to suitably make up for the Moroccan’s departure.

Ceccarini emphasizes that replacing the 22-year-old could prove difficult and is an important task for the squad, but he believes that the Nerazzurri will approach the market correctly and wait until the right opportunity presents itself.

His remarks highlight the fact that while the departure of a playing asset such as Hakimi will always be a tough loss given the player’s qualities on the pitch, the financial benefits and capacity for the club to move forward should always give fans optimism.

Ceccarini explained:

“The distance is very low between Inter and PSG, I think that in days they can find an agreement for €70 million including bonuses.”

“It is a sale that will offer Inter a threefold benefit: it is an important capital gain, it will allow them to raise cash, and they can bring in a replacement with part of the proceeds.”

On a suitable replacement for the Moroccan, Ceccarini had one particular name in mind, for a player who he considers to have a similar profile to the Scudetto-winning wing-back:

“Lazzari has the characteristics to take his place. In any case, for the right side Inter will take their time because they cannot make a mistake with this purchase.”
