Italian football journalist Matteo Marani has highlighted the shift in Nicolo Barella’s playing style since Simone Inzaghi has taken charge of the team, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Whilst speaking in the studios of Sky Sport, Matteo Marani explained that the change in Nicolo Barella’s play is what clearly shows Inter are becoming Simone Inzaghi’s team.

“The tip of the balance is Barella: today he has a more offensive than defensive tendency and in this fact, in my opinion, lies the litmus test in which Inter has changed.”

The point being made is that Inter are scoring more goals and creating more chances than they did under Antonio Conte, but they are also conceding much more goals.

That is why Matteo Marani believes the match against Juventus will show that Inter now play differently than they did under their old coach and Simone Inzaghi is stamping his authority on the team.

“He has enjoyed the work done by Conte in two years, now comes the most delicate moment. The match against Juve is a watershed: Inter plays differently.”

Nicolo Barella has become a star player for Inter and the club are entering talks to keep him with the Nerazzurri until at least 2026 with an increased wage.
