Italian journalist Mario Sconcerti believes that Inter showed that they are a top side with the ease of their 2-0 win over Venezia in Serie A yesterday evening.

Writing in his column for today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, the journalist hailed the comfortable win by the Nerazzurri over a tricky opponent and suggested that they showed something that their rivals at the top of the table have not yet.

Inter will have known not to be overconfident against Venezia given that the newly-promoted side have already grabbed some impressive results this season with good performances, not least against Fiorentina and Roma.

Even after convincing wins in key matches against Napoli and Shakhtar Donetsk, Simone Inzaghi’s men could not take three points for granted in Venice.

However, the Nerazzurri never looked to be in any trouble in spite of a scoreline that was far from a blowout in the end, and this did not go unnoticed by Sconcerti.

“Zanetti’s Venezia can play in the style of Gasperini,” he writes, “organized and doing the name of the city on their shirt proud.”

“Inter beat them without difficulty,” he goes on, “as only the great teams do. The result looks close because it reflects the qualities of both teams, but the match was one-sided.”

He goes on to argue that “Inter play better than they did last year, Inzaghi is looking to create more space and wants quick passes. The quality has increased. We’ll see what happens, but right now Inter have more than their rivals.”
