Italian Journalist Mario Sconcerti: “Inter Haven’t Done Much Wrong But Lack The Personality Of Last Season” | OneFootball

Italian journalist Mario Sconcerti believes that Inter remain a team with a lot of quality, but that compared to last season they are not quite as assured of themselves.

Writing in his column for today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, Sconcerti reflected on the Nerazzurri’s loss to Lazio in Serie A and suggested that the issues underlying the result were mental as much as anything.

Inter had looked to be in control for long portions of the match at the Stadio Olimpico, defending their early lead and restricting Maurizio Sarri’s men to few chances while looking if anything the likelier side to grab a second goal.

However, as the Biancocelesti grew into the game, they found their identity and the Nerazzurri had no response to a resurgent display, crumbling as the opponents found three goals without reply to overhaul the deficit.

Sconcerti believes that the Nerazzurri will feel shellshocked by the result, writing that “Inter have not done much wrong, I think they are still wondering what they did to concede three goals.”

“But Bastoni and Dimarco suffered from Anderson, Gagliardini was very light on Milinkovic-Savic and Barella was in one of those beautiful and confused days in which the overlapping categories almost cancel one another out,” he goes on.

“The first lesson is to be taken up with FIFA, for a calendar better combined with the European one,” he writes. “The second lesson is that Inter are an excellent team but do not have the personality of last year.”

“The third is that there are no big differences between teams,” he concluded. “There is a difference in how teams are presented to the public. But this is part of commercial problems that we have become accustomed to thinking of as normal.”
