Italian journalist Marco Bucciantini feels that the defensive lapse that caused Inter to concede against Bologna yesterday afternoon is much less of a problem than the team’s limp attacking performance.
Speaking on Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInter1908, the journalist noted that the Nerazzurri have failed to find the back of the net in their two last away matches in Serie A, considering this to be the team’s real issue.
When Inter conceded in the second half of yesterday’s match against Bologna, the sense was that it had been only a matter of time before a switch-off would be punished, and it was a misplaced pass by Danilo D’Ambrosio that was culpable on that occasion.
However, in truth, even for the strongest defensive teams, conceding goals is a reality of football, and the truly important matter is reacting.
Both before and after Riccardo Orsolini’s goal yesterday, Inter looked unable to impose themselves and create chances, and it was this that really condemned them to a seventh league defeat of the season rather than just the Italian’s strike, in the view of Bucciantini.
“The real problem isn’t conceding away to Bologna or conceding a goal per game,” the journalist argue.
“Their issue is that they failed to score in 180 minutes in Genoa and Bologna.”
