Italian Journalist Marco Bellinazzo On Investcorp Rumours: “Inter Already Have A Fund, They Don’t Need Another”

Italian journalist Marco Bellinazzo believes that while it’s not surprising that Inter are linked with a sale to Investcorp, he does not see it happening.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster Rai Radio, the journalist with Italian business newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore argued that while big Serie A teams are currently an attractive prospect for a number of funds, the Nerazzurri are hardly in need of a new one.
Investcorp are the latest party linked with an interest in buying Inter from current owners Suning, with the Bahraini fund having previously been reported to be in talks with AC Milan before those negotiations fell through.
All indications in the past have been that the current owners intend to press on in their running of the Nerazzurri, whilst the large loan taken in from US-based fund Oaktree Capital casts a big shadow over the club and has been crucial to ensuring operating liquidity.
Bellinazzo commented on the Investcorp rumours, stating that “I’m not surprised, American funds have raised €20 billion to invest in sport.”
“A lot of this has already been invested,” he continued. “Today Italian football is very attractive to the American market. I’m just saying that Inter already have a fund, they don’t need another one.”
