Italian journalist Ivan Zazzaroni feels that this season’s Inter have further proved themselves with their draw with Atalanta yesterday evening in Serie A.

Writing in his column in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, the journalist emphasized that the Nerazzurri did well in tough circumstances away to La Dei.

Inter saw their eight-game winning run come to an end as they failed to find the back of the net against Atalanta, but the match always looked likely to be one in which they would find less joy than in their last few.

The match was even, with neither side quite managing to break through, but even without a cutting edge in the final third the Nerazzurri had showed composure to not loosen their grip on the tempo of the match, which Zazzaroni feels showed that they have the right mentality to win the Scudetto this campaign.

“I liked Inzaghi’s Inter more than I ever have,” he writes, “for how they controlled the territory on the pitch, exploited matchups, accepted that they would have to suffer from the intensity of their opponents who would hit them on the counter.”

He goes on that “Inter, who came off the back of eight wins in a row, managed to take a point away from last night while even having chances to extend their run to nine wins, and it shows that they’re on a higher level than their rivals.”

“They have a special mentality,” he adds. “However, I am curious to see how AC Milan and Napoli respond, even without many starting players.”
