Italian Journalist Hits Out: ‘The Order Of The Serie A Fixture List Sold Out For The Supercoppa Italiana In Saudi Arabia’ | OneFootball

Italian journalist Paolo Condo argues that the order of the Serie A fixture list has been “sold out” for the Supercoppa Italiana.

Condo wrote about the breaking up of the schedule in a column in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper La Repubblica, via FCInterNews.

Inter have not played in Serie A this weekend.

Neither did any of Napoli, Fiorentina, or Lazio.

The quartet all played in the Supercoppa Italiana during the past few days. The Nerazzurri and the Partenopei will square off in the final of the competition this evening.

Inter therefore missed their match against Atalanta – they will have to play it at a later date, at the end of February.

In the meantime, Juventus did play over the weekend. The Bianconeri secured a convincing 3-0 win away to Lecce.

Subsequently, this was enough to see them take top spot in the Serie A table, ahead of Inter.

The Nerazzurri will have the game in hand as a chance to regain their place at the summit.

But because of the expanded Supercoppa format, the whole situation at the top of the table has become more complicated.

And the same can be said regarding the race for Champions League, Europa League, and Europa Conference League football.

Condo: Serie A Fixture List Order “Sold Out” For Supercoppa Italiana

Condo writes that “The 21st round of Serie A is the most misleading one.”

“Given that, in order to organize the mini-tournament for the Supercoppa Italiana in Saudi Arabia, the order of the calendar was sold our for a month and a half.”

The journalist argues that “This season has been drawn up in a schizophrenic way.”

“Without breaks, apart from the international ones.”

“It would have been enough to use one of the free Wednesdays between now and the resumption of the European cup competitions to free up a weekend in which sixteen teams could rest,” Condo argues.

“Then the other four could play in the Supercoppa.”
